Today is the first day of my 40’s. Am I supposed to feel different? Am I supposed to act different? I look a little different. My hair is getting grayer by the day. Some body parts sag a bit more than when I was in my 20’s. My skin is a bit dryer. But I feel the same. Sure I have some creaks and pains, but I was a tom boy. I did martial arts for YEARS. I played soccer, and rode my bike EVERYWHERE.
Can we talk about that for a minute? When I was younger, my bike was my car. Anywhere I wanted to go, I got on my bike and off I went. To the shopping center to hang out with friends, to the beach, just for a ride. I didn’t need to wait on my mom or dad to take me somewhere. I was free. Even with all this quarantining, I have only seen a handful of people out on bikes in my neighborhood,
Was bike riding only something done in 80-90’s? Mr. Table taught our son how to ride a bike, and I think that was the last time he ever rode it. He gave it away after Hurricane Sandy to a family that lost everything, so that their child could have something to do. That was definitely a proud momma moment.
Today I will try to make my family proud. By being the best wife and mother I can be. And by giving them what they want, steak. Big juicy porterhouse for myself and Mr Table, and t-bone lamb chops for Table Jr.
- 2 lb Porterhouse steak, or your favorite cut of meat
- BBQ Rub
Turn on your grill, or grill pan to medium-high heat.
Massage your meat liberally with rub. Let meat rest at room temperature, until grill is hot.
Cook meat 8-10 minutes per side for medium well. (We like our meat on the more cooked side.)
Rest meat in covered dish 10 minutes before slicing.
