Easy Black Beans

By Ange's Table

Hey there.  How’s it going today?

Today I have the easiest black bean recipe for you.  You can make this with your eyes closed.  Okay, maybe not closed the whole time, but they are super simple, but as always super tasty!

I make these Easy Black Beans with canned beans, but you can of course use dry.  I do have dry beans in the house, but I have to be honest.  I don’t usually remember to soak them overnight.  We have cranberry beans and white beans that can be cooked without the long soak.  But not black beans.  I’ve tried.  Not so yummy 🙄

There are minimal ingredients in this recipe as well.  Onion, garlic, and beer.  You season it up before serving, so whatever spices you have on hand will be just fine.  Not only are these beans great as a side dish, they work well added to other recipes.  Or as a base for dip or soup.

Easy Black Beans

  • 2 cans black beans, rinsed well
  • 1 bottle gluten free beer
  • 1/4 large onion, cut in chunks
  • 2 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp Seasoned Salt Mix
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander

Using a heavy bottom pot, add in the rinsed beans, garlic and onion.  Pour in beer, then fill beer bottle with water to cover the beans.  I refilled the bottle twice.  Add in plain salt.

Bring to a boil, cover, cook on medium-low 45 min-1 hour  until the onion and garlic are soft enough to mash with your spoon.

Uncover, let the liquid reduce by 1/4.  Season with salt mix, cumin and coriander.

Enjoy!

You can serve these beans as a side to any meal, as they are.  Or you can serve it with Ground Chicken Taco like we did in the photo above.
